Avenues of Change
A three-year early childhood initiative started in 2016 bringing
the community of Richmond City Centre together to help
children age 0-6 years old reach their full potential.
The project aims to reduce child vulnerability in the city centre
and ensure more children start school ready to succeed. Action
strategies are implemented to support families with children 0-6
years old to connect with and learn from community services
and each other. Children experience consistently nurturing and
stimulating relationships with their parents and caregivers.
This year the Avenues of Change project focuses on supporting a
group of parent volunteers, known as Neighbourhood Family
Connectors, to support parents and caregivers of young children
to reduce social isolation and promote a culture of parents-
supporting-parents even once the project has wrapped up in
December 2018.
The Avenues of Change project is generously funded by the United Way.
