The Pathways Early Years Intervention Program provides targeted, early intervention support to families with children aged 0–6 who may need additional assistance. The program focuses on early identification of risks and addressing developmental vulnerabilities that may impact a child’s participation in childcare, preschool, and early learning environments, helping to build strong foundations for school readiness.

Services are delivered by a multidisciplinary team of Behavioural Consultants and Family Support Workers who work collaboratively with families and community partners. In partnership with Vancouver Coastal Health and other early years systems, the program offers coordinated, wrap-around supports that are responsive to each family’s unique strengths and needs.

  • Behavioural Consultants provide assessment, observation, and individualized strategies to support children’s behavioural, social-emotional, and developmental growth.
  • Family Support Workers work alongside caregivers to build capacity, offer guidance, and assist with connecting to community resources, services, and funding opportunities.

Support is flexible and provided in environments where families feel most comfortable and where support is most effective, including homes, childcare settings, schools, community spaces, and Touchstone offices. Families are at the centre of planning, and their voice is integral to the service approach.

  • This community-based program is funded by the Ministry of Children and Family Development, under the Pathways to Hope initiative.
  • Referrals are welcome from families through self-referral, community programs, childcare providers, and MCFD social workers for children aged 0–6 living in Richmond.
  • Services are currently provided in English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Farsi.
