The Front Porch Program offers accessible, early support to children, youth, and families, helping address challenges before they become overwhelming. Rooted in the belief that timely support leads to stronger outcomes, it provides a welcoming and responsive first point of contact for those seeking help. Designed as a low-barrier, open-access program, individuals and families in Richmond can self-refer and connect directly with counselling and support services.

The program takes its name from the idea of a “front porch” a place where people gather, connect, and feel welcomed. It reflects a reassuring message: someone is here, the door is open, and support is available when you need it.

By engaging families early, the Front Porch Program helps strengthen relationships, improve emotional well-being, and build resilience, while reducing the need for more intensive services over time.

The program operates on a “pay it forward” model. While services are offered at no cost, those who are able are invited to contribute in support of others, reinforcing a shared commitment to community care.

  • The Front Porch Program is sustained through the generosity of donors, community partnerships, and funding from organizations such as the Tee Cup Ladies Charity Golf Tournament, BC Gaming, and the Richmond Community Foundation. Touchstone staff also support the program through payroll donations, reflecting the deep value placed on accessible, community-based care.
